Study and conservation of a graffiti. Intervention of a Muelle’s signature in Vigo
Abstract
Graffiti, an act of vandalism a priori, has recently received the attention of heritage conservation professionals, who face the particular problems of these pieces (illegality or unregulated, exposure to the outdoors, scarce regulations or reference guidelines...) with a theoretical corpus of reference that is still scarce, which is why the possibility of carrying out these works represents an opportunity to move forward in their knowledge and conservation. The random discovery of a signature by Juan Carlos Argüello, the spanish graffiti pioneer known as Muelle, together with the administration’s desire to preserve it, has led to the design of a work campaign aimed at its study and conservation, which has made it possible to make progress in this area.
